Samsung Galaxy S Features

Samsung Galaxy S

The Galaxy S is the new Samsung smartphone, that hopes to directly compete with the iPhone4. If you want to find out more, read the full Samsung Galaxy S review.

The best features of the Samsung Galaxy S must be the mighty 1GHz Hummingbird processor, and the fantastic 4-inch screen. Both of these release excellent performance and take the Android OS to a new level.

The Galaxy S screen - a Super AMOLED - brings a respectable 480x800 resolution together with truly vibrant colors. The contrast (500.000 to 1) compares to HD television standards, making the images pop out, amazingly sharp. The touchscreen function is also quite responsive, with no delay from your commands to the phone's actions.

The Hummingbird processor also has fantastic speed of execution, in both video and 3D rendering alike.

The chassis is thin and lightweight, and seems a little cheap, more than could be expected from a a device in this price range. This fact however is a small price to pay for having so much quality hardware in such a small space. The micro-USB is covered by an innovative solid cover that locks in place, not the standard rubber flap used in many other phones.

The Galaxy S can come with 8GB and 16GB internal memory, and can take another 32GB, if you add a microSD card.

The 5MP camera takes good quality pictures and can also shoot 720P HD video, but the phone has no flash, so it suffers under low-light conditions.

The Galaxy S' battery life is somewhat limited, partly because of the large Super AMOLED display. It could last the entire day with a little luck, however if used intensely with full screen brightness, it will need a recharge in a few hours.

All in all the device combines some great features with less than ideal battery life and widgets, and a good 5MP camera with the lack of any flash or light source. None of the shortcomings are a deal breaker though, since it looks good, fits well in the hand, and brings a generous screen surface, and so this Samsung Galaxy S review will give it a big thumbs up, as a possible next smartphone for you.
