Samsung Galaxy Apollo Features

Samsung Galaxy Apollo
The Samsung Galaxy S is one of the best smartphones currently on the market. The only problem is its pricetag, making it unaffordable for many. Enter the Galaxy Apollo. It's made to to bring together the best features of the Galaxy S, but in a much more affordable device. Continue with the rest of this Samsung Galaxy Apollo review to find out more.

The Apollo's chassis is rather thick(13mm), meaning it's a bit chunky. The battery cover in the back is a piece of standard dull black plastic. The front however has a good looking mirrored surface. Fingerprints are the only possible problem.

The screen is a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen with multi-touch, so with 2 fingers you can zoom web pages, maps and images. Multi-touch comes from the Android 2.1 OS. The display resolution is 400x200, making graphics don't look as sharp as on better smartphones.

The smartphone brings 2 different home screens, and you can switch between them with an app in the main menu. The Apollo also has a video app with DivX, making it possible to watch both DivX and Xvid videos at up to 720x480 resolution, without the need to reencode them. The Galaxy Apollo ships with 1 GB of internal memory, and allows for 32 GB more, via microSD.

The 667MHz processing unit is more than enough to play videos smoothly, and video quality delivers a fine experience, especially in Landscape mode. The phone has great music quality, even straight out-of-the box, with the default headphones. If music is a must-have in your smartphone, the Apollo will not disappoint.

At 3.2 MP, the camera takes good snapshots, but as it doesn't have a flash low-light pictures are poor in quality. In any case the camera still takes good photos with proper lighting, bringing out crisp natural colors.

All things considered the Apollo brings together some interesting specs, reliable hardware and performance, in an affordable package. It is one of the best Android 2.1 phones in this price range, and so this Samsung Galaxy Apollo review recommends it to anyone that cannot afford the Galaxy S.
